A friendly local clay shoot. Nice people. A bit windy at times due to the location, but that just adds to the spice. 50 sporting across 5 stands, although you can stay longer at any stand you choose to get some additional practice on those targets as you just pay per clay (34p or 28p I think depending on if you're a member) Big advantage is it's open Saturdays as well as Sundays and even Tuesday evenings in the summer months. Also, they have a delay switch so you can still shoot if you find you're on your own. Cartridges are a bit pricey here if you shoot regularly, and they don't have a huge selection, so bring your own if you can.
Shot clay pigeons for the first time, badly, but had a really good time. Staff are great and friendly and newbies like me are really well treated. Would recommend if this is what you fancy having a go at.

Fantastic place. Some of the friendliest people I've met with the best coaching. The place can be a bit difficult to find, but if you put the royalist in Google Maps, just go a little further, and you'll be there. When we got there we were greeted warmly and were offered drinks. We waited for people to finish and was taught proper safety, where to hold and other tips and tricks. I went from having no clue to hitting every clay every time. 30 clays went very fast. After we finished the box, we bought another box to shoot, and our coach traded places with a guy called Richard (hope I spelt it right ;) ), and he pushed me to try some harder positions and taught me very well. This place is a must go if you're in the area and at a great price considering ammo costs nowadays. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a drive for me, but I will be back whenever I can!
Loved it - Took the kids (9-11) and they loved it more than I did. Our "guide" or gun expert was Bob, who was really good with the boys, explained the dos and donts, and before we knew it it we were all smashing clay in the sky. Highly recommended, highly professional, and extremely good fun. Google please add a sixth star for Yorkgate gun club
Highly recommend using this company. Found this place through the online company, address was a bit tricky to find because google maps used via Uber. When we eventually found the place , the team was lovely. Very chatty and charming, explained the safety rules, and even helped us hit the target. Looks easy but can easily have an egg on your face.
