Reduced review commentary due to the Google review word limit! We booked as group of twelve to celebrate the twin’s 30th birthday. As a group we were really looking forward to an afternoon paintballing. Unfortunately, the group ended up disappointed, disheartened and “mugged off” by our recent experience. We all paid £55 which got us an afternoon of games, kit and 500 paintballs. However, the lad who booked it for us all was hit with a £33 booking fee on top! To start there was there was no formal sign in, it was just an ad hoc “scan the waiver and grab some kit”. Just about every mask available was scratched, so even before they steamed up, it was near on impossible to see through. If your over 6 feet tall the boiler suit worked like a cheese wire to the nether regions! Gloves and snoods are an added extra! There were two other groups in at the same time as us, a few school aged lads for birthday and a stag group. At no point was there communication from the staff that we would be playing together or how the teams could have been organised. The main hub is bare with little to no facilities. No changing spaces, safe storage, only a single Portaloo. Thankfully the loo was clean. So, we head down for the first game after a very short safety briefing and demo of the guns. There is no control or order provided by the staff and we mingle about and struggle to hear how the game will be played. Already we are doubting if the guy briefing us knows the rules! The first “map” (game zone) is a bit of a mess with poorly defined borders. The game starts (capture the flag), and confusing begins, the marshals are all bunched together in the centre with no support to either team, or method of clear communication between them. We re-run the game in the opposite direction and start noticing massive flaws in the site set up. The respawn spot for our team, now has no cover, so you walk back when hit and then continue to get pelted from this point on. Making it almost impossible to get back in the game. The next game zone is much larger than the last, with numerous huts for cover. We fight it out to last man standing in a team. At this point I realise I’m out of paint and I’ve only been on site for 1hr, maybe 20mins max of game play. I head back for more paint. Delay to the others again. My mates goes up first for another 500 balls. £45! So, we halve them. At this rate I’ll be bankrupt by 4pm. At this point we’re all getting frustrated over the consistency of the guns’ accuracy. Lucky if 1 in 5 goes vaguely on target. So ultimately your using 5 times the number of paintballs than necessary. We move to what would be our groups final “map”. A seriously rickety timber “fort” which is lopsided and unstable. The structure is rotten in places, has exposed nails throughout, primitive edge protection and ultimately not safe for customers to enter or climb. We are all, now very conscious of the number of paintballs left. The majority realising this day out is no longer fun and is a racket to strip us of funds! I make it to the second game, played in reverse, but bow out in 2mins after finishing all 750 paint balls. As a group we decide enough is enough. There is game play time left but we would all need to shell out at least another £30 to make it enjoyable. So, we leave. At points, it was fun. But we all felt the lack or organisation, quality and prices spoiled our experience at Bedlam Paintball, Cumbernauld. Won’t be back and would not recommend to others
Really poor. Equipment was clearly bought 15+ years ago and hasn’t seen any reinvestment since. The boiler suits smell, the actual playing fields have been left to rot, masks are scuffed with barely any chance to see out of and just really bad organising. Was told on the pitch “blues one side blacks other” which is fine but the staff couldn’t decide if they meant the colours of the hoppers or the colour of the boiler suits so groups get split up. Games are pretty poor and not really thought out either. Pair that with no enforcement of rules, you’re basically handing over hundreds of pounds to stand aimlessly shooting and getting shot over and over. Players tend to aim for those with their hands up saying they’re out if there’s no penalty - I know I did lol My first experience of paintballing but I won’t believe this one speaks for the sport(?) itself. Absolutely amazing staff were amazing game modes were great and maps were stunning.
We had my son's 10th birthday party yesterday at the Cumbernauld site yesterday and cannot praise them enough. The guys (and girl) on the team are friendly, professional and knowledgable and so accomodating. In all honesty, the booking experience on the phone felt rushed and impersonal and I was a bit apprehensive turning up. But the on-site experience is the polar opposite. Even getting lost and turning up a bit late didn't dampen the experience and i've been reliably informed by 8 10yo's that it was the best birthday party EVER. Thank you all very much, you made my boy's day ❤️
We went for my son's birthday as I'd taken my other kids to paintballing at similar and older ages. I had a rough idea how the day would go. The cumbernauld one was alot smaller than previous sites id been to. We'd to scan a QR code to sign a waiver for each player before they were allowed to play. The kids got their uniforms, guns and paintballs. The helmets were only half helmets and did not cover the top of their heads which i was concerned about. We had booked for the morning but got a call the day before asking us to change to the afternoon as there wasn't enough players as other teams had pulled out. This was a little annoying to arrange last minute but was offered additional paintballs for inconvenience. Previous sites I'd gone to had free tea/coffee facilities but weren't here. And there was also a tank kids could get pictures on but the Cumbernauld site is very small and had a few picnic benches. The site isn't the easiest to get to as its not well signposted but following signs and turning into world of wings and follow up to bedlam paintballing car park. There was one porta loo on the grounds. There didn't seem to have any lockers for belongings but that's only because I couldn't see any in the small area. Everyone just left their belongings on the benches and thought that was a bit of a risk as the site was easy to get into. I stayed behind while my party went into the games. I was told it'd be 3 sets of 2 games. At the end of the day there was meant to be a scoreboard with winners announced. But they went in twice for 45 mins games. I divided their paintballs amd gave them a 3rd of their paintballs as i was told theyd be going in for 3 games. But after the 1st game we were all told theyd only be going in for one more game so take all their paintballs. They ended almost an hour earlier than they shouldve and came out at 2.45 instead of 3.30pm. My son had extra paintballs by the end and handed them back in. Kids I had in my party were to be picked up at 3.45 when I was told it'd end but we sat till pick up. All the staff left just after 3 except one member who stayed till we got picked up at 3.45. My son enjoyed paintballing but I'd be very reluctant to return to this site. £50 per child for 2x 45 min games (this was with a special offer) was a bit steep. Previous paintballing experience through IPG where you pay £60 for 10 people for the passes and £10 each player (£100, so works out £16pp for 10 people 9-4) on booking was always what I paid and this was for full day and not the half day (1-3.45) I'd got through bedlam for £50 pp.
