November 2025- First time at this range. We came on a Saturday. My experience was below my expectations but I must add it was a very busy Saturday morning but it should be noted regardless. Wait time for a bay was about 10 minutes, understandable. Instructor was extremely helpful in teaching my friend how to handle a weapon, he felt much more comfortable and tension was eased. Highly recommend the instruction if it’s your first time. They must have been understaffed because at one point there was only one worker on the range floor with us. We stood there for about 15 minutes waiting for a gun swap (he couldn’t leave the room unattended). I noticed they never stopped the timer so that was 15 minutes down the drain which heavily reflects my rating. 3 stars is for the range aesthetic and professionalism of the staff. I will be back on a weekday, hopefully it’s not as crowded and I will update my review then.
I've been a member with RTSP Union for a few months now, and have visited the Randolph location multiple times as well. The RSOs and sales desk folks are amazing. Friendly, clearly passionate. A few I've interacted with really stand out, particularly Tom Ibrahim, who just this past weekend remembered the exact firearm I had purchased from him months prior despite not having seen him since then. Another is Zee, a cheerful Australian fellow. These men and women make it a joy to visit the range. The Range Safety Officers are also great. RSOs at ranges can be a mixed bag; sometimes you get the overzealous kind who are outright bullies and make the entire experience unpleasant, particularly for new shooters. Not so with RTSP. My first few times shooting I made some mistakes (taking an unloaded firearm out of the port, whoops!) — The RSOs responded instantly, maintaining the safety of the range, but also gently; they didn't make me feel like an idiot for inadvertently breaking a basic rule. Amazing range experience because of them. The one thing I would strongly suggest against is purchasing any ammunition or paper targets from RTSP. Both are overpriced. You can buy ammo from online retailers who will ship to NJ for around 25 cents per round of 9mm, but at RTSP, buying a box of 50 rounds of their 9mm ammo will cost you $30; a rate of 60 cents per round. If you shoot regularly, this adds up. If you're just there for the day, it's not a huge deal. Similar for paper targets: You can get a box of 50 paper targets on Amazon for about $35, but if you buy your paper targets from RTSP, you're going to be spending a few bucks per target. This is something important for folks who are considering a membership. Any discounts on ammo you're simply not going to use much, since you'll be buying your stuff online in bulk if you shoot regularly. But the free port rentals more than make up for the cost of a membership if you're shooting weekly. The last point is RTSP's classes, which I found to be a mixed bag mostly due to varying instructor quality. The great: I took a basic rifle handling course with Vinny DeRose at the Randolph location. Mr. DeRose was a wonderful instructor. Light, funny, a great teacher. Knowledgeable, but mostly a pleasure to hang out with. Great class that I found illuminating and well worth the money. The good: I took a basic handgun handling course with Tom Ventriglia. Pretty good, however we had folks coming in late that threw Mr. Ventriglia off and he re-started the class about 20 minutes in, which I found frustrating. Overall, though, Tom was really good. Very knowledgeable, another good teacher who works hard to add levity to his classes, but didn't seem as at-ease as Mr. DeRose. The bad: I recently took the complete PTC course with Jeff Pastuzyn and had my worst experience yet at RTSP. He was blunt, abrasive, and a poor teacher. Multiple questions were treated as stupid, and Mr. Pastuzyn responded in a snide manner to them. He proctored our CCARE examination (which I passed), which we did first, then took over for the classroom portion, in which he spent significant time venting his political opinions about New Jersey's governor, in between flatly reading the slides verbatim and not adding much substance between. Mr. Pastuzyn, although certainly knowledgeable and, I'm sure, skilled, is a poor teacher who creates a bad learning environment in which his students are fearful of asking questions or answering queries due to receiving condescension as a result. One thing that really bothered me was a few minutes in which Mr. Pastuzyn spent venting about people at the range who don't know how to deal with click-no-bang failures, and how they bothered RSOs to help them. Personally, I would rather new shooters have the RSOs help them with something they're uncomfortable with. Thus I would strongly recommend against taking Mr. Pastuzyn's classes. Overall, I'd recommend RTSP. They do a whole lot of stuff right and I'm happy to be a member there. But there are a few rough spots folks should be aware of.

This was my first time at this gun range, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted so warmly. The lady at the register was incredibly patient and took her time explaining every little detail — from gun specs and what to rent as beginners, to how to use the equipment properly. She even helped us save money by recommending what we actually needed. We were a group of five and spent about $80 per person for an hour with two shooting ranges — one handgun and one rifle — and it was absolutely worth it. The instructor was fantastic: super professional, kind, and patient, especially with the girls in our group who were nervous at first. He kept everyone calm, motivated, and confident, always saying “good job” after each shot or reload. If you’re looking for an exciting, out-of-your-comfort-zone experience, this is the perfect place to go. You won’t be disappointed!
We had such a great experience! We were beginners so we watched the instruction video, signed the waivers then returned to the front desk. Dawn was very knowledgeable, friendly and helped us pick out the best guns and calibers; her suggestions were great! Our instructor Jay R made sure Safety was a priority, he was friendly and he was a great instructor; he made the experience fun & safe. As soon as I get the chance I would love to return to this gun range.
We had so much fun — mostly thanks to our instructor, Melissa! She made the whole experience super fun and easy, especially with her jokes, which helped us relax since it was our first time shooting. The process was smooth, the place felt really safe, and we’re definitely planning to come back. We’ll be asking for Melissa again for sure! Also, it was about $50 cheaper than we expected, so the pricing was great too. Highly recommend booking!
