Fantastic First-Time Shooting Experience! Highly Recommend. I had an incredible first-time visit to the Sporting Shooters Association Australia club recently and cannot recommend it enough. The process was very straightforward for beginners—we didn't even need to book the long arms in advance, which made it easy to just show up and try. The absolute highlight was the staff. Everyone was helpful, but a special thank you to the gentleman who spoke Mandarin. He was incredibly patient and took the time to give us a thorough, careful, and very clear safety briefing and lesson. His teaching was so detailed and attentive, which immediately put us at ease. I'm sorry I didn't catch your name, but your professionalism made our day! The facility itself is great. We tried the target shown in the picture, and with the staff's guidance, our groupings turned out pretty well! It was a very satisfying feeling. The value is excellent; adding an extra box of ammo for just $14 was very reasonable and allowed us to fully enjoy the session. Overall, it was a fun, safe, and brilliantly run experience. Perfect for newcomers and a great value. We will definitely be back. Five stars!
Had an awesome time. Big shoutout to Eli—super friendly, patient, and really knows his stuff. He made the whole experience easy and comfortable, especially with the safety side of things. Definitely appreciate the good vibes. I’ll be back for sure!

“Come and try” for unlicensed shooters was a laugh. Def worth a go. 22’s are easy to handle and very approachable for inexperienced folk or youngsters. Shoutout to Camo for his instructions and guidance. Can get busy on weekends, best to ring ahead and check. I still maintain my rifle was shooting high and right 😜 might have to come back for a rematch 👀 🎯 I’ll bring my glasses next time 🤣
I recently attended a firearms training session at the Springvale SSAA range, and I was genuinely impressed with the overall experience. From the moment our group arrived, the trainers demonstrated a high level of professionalism, knowledge, and attention to detail. They were friendly, approachable, and created a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved, regardless of experience level. Throughout the session, the instructors provided clear explanations and hands-on guidance, ensuring each participant understood not only the technical aspects of firearm handling but also the importance of safety, discipline, and responsibility. Their ability to tailor their approach to suit individuals within our group made the training both engaging and effective. It was evident that they take great pride in their work and genuinely care about helping participants gain confidence and competence. The facilities at the Springvale SSAA range were clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything needed for a productive learning experience. The structure of the training session was well-organized and ran smoothly from start to finish, with ample time for practice and feedback. Overall, the experience exceeded my expectations. The combination of expert instruction, welcoming staff, and professional standards made it an excellent environment for anyone wishing to undertake firearm safety or proficiency training. I would highly recommend the Springvale SSAA and its dedicated team to anyone considering firearm education—whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills. I left the session feeling informed, confident, and grateful for such a positive experience.
After reading some of the negative reviews of this place, I'll say this: You cannot expect to handle a live weapon, that could kill someone, then not get yelled at when you do the wrong thing with it, or are unable to follow basic instructions. As a licenced shooter myself, I feel that there are not nearly enough benches for experienced shooters with their own firearm. Only 4 seated benches and 5 standing benches. Get there early, or you'll be waiting for a spot for a while. The benches are too close together. The last time I shot there, I was constantly being flicked by the expended shells of the person at the bench next to me. You are shoulder to shoulder, and it was hard to relax and shoot when you have someone in your personal space. The whole space is cramped, and dark under the covered area. The area behind the yellow line is not big enough, especially when it's very busy. The whole place needs some renovation. The timber posts where you secure your targets is rapidly being shot to pieces and is getting close to needing renovation. It honestly feels like the whole place is geared towards those who are trying out the sport for the first time, while more experienced shooters are like an afterthought. The coffee is good though, hence the TWO stars. Although even the coffee shop is not open often enough. I much prefer the range at Eagle Park, in Little River. Much more of a drive, but much more open, a bigger range, more welcoming staff and better facilities.
