It was my first time shooting and the chief was really helpful. The rules are clearly explained online and at the range. I felt safe and had a great time. The only downside was one of the workers behind the desk broke my bolt shroud. I wouldn't advise letting them help you with weapons.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the SSAA Range at Belmont, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The facility itself is massive, set in beautiful bushland only about 20 minutes from Brisbane city. It really feels like a world of its own once you arrive. The range is extremely well-organised, clean, and caters to just about every shooting discipline—rifle, pistol, shotgun, metallic silhouette, even clay targets and air pistol. What stood out to me most was the professionalism and safety culture. The Range Officers and staff were very friendly, approachable, and made sure everything ran smoothly while still keeping the environment welcoming for both beginners and experienced shooters. They strike the right balance between strict safety standards and ensuring you enjoy your time. The facilities are top-notch: multiple rifle distances from 50 m up to 500 m, purpose-built pistol ranges, and well-set-up shotgun fields. For newcomers, the “Try Shooting” packages are fantastic value—they include everything from firearms and ammo to coaching, and you can tell the instructors are passionate about helping people learn safely. I also appreciated the flexibility in hours, with both daytime and evening sessions available, and how easy it was to book online. Pricing is fair, especially if you become a member, and the large community feel makes it even better. Overall, the SSAA Range is a first-class shooting facility in Queensland. Whether you’re brand new and curious to try shooting for the first time, or a seasoned shooter looking for a professional and well-equipped range, this place is highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back again soon.

Have been here a few times now for the Come and Try sessions. Highly recommended. The team there are super knowledgeable and keen to provide tips and guidance as much as you are willing to listen and learn. It is well organised, and simple to get started even if you have little to no experience. Safety is paramount, but the environment is still casual enough to enjoy yourself. Go yourself or take a friend.

Well organised shooting range. They have all these measures to make sure you’re safe, which is really great!! The staff on the range and also at the desk were super friendly and helpful, especially to new timers. It was an interesting place to visit but make sure you bring earmuffs as it is extremely loud!!!
