Smash City Rage Rooms
Smash City San Jose offers an ultimate rage room experience, a unique way to unleash your inner adventurer and relieve stress. Located in downtown San Jose, it's perfect for birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette events, or work functions. Gather your friends, family, or coworkers for a memorable activity where you can smash and break objects in a safe, monitored environment. It's a truly therapeutic and fun outing for anyone looking to let loose and connect.
I went to the Smash City Rage Room. When I was shown to the room, I was a bit disappointed. The advertisement shows a variety of items to Smash & break. But our room, had a bunch of glass bottles, a big rubber duck, the remains of a table & a mag wheel. I'm sure strong men can Smash the mag wheel, but for the most part, the only thing to really Smash were the glass bottles. I expected a variety of things like old computers & such. So, that was disappointing. But that being said, smashing the glass bottles was fun. If I ever do this again,I would want more items to Smash. Sadly, we were done long before our half hour was up. Also, you put on disposable rubber gloves & then garden gloves. I feel like bringing your own gloves is a better idea. The one part we both really didn't like was the mask with a built in face shield. It kept fogging up, made it hard to breath & Go only knows how many people have worn it before us. That mask was sweaty & even though I'm not weirded out by germs, I would have preferred to buy my own mask versus wearing that sweaty one. But if I have the opportunity, I would do it again, just with more breakables.
My partner and I spent over $200 expecting a fun, cathartic rage room experience—but instead, we were given a bunch of glass beer bottles to smash on the floor and… that was it. The rest of the room was filled with random, unbreakable props: a giant plastic barrel, some tools, a piece of couch cushion and springs—nothing you could actually destroy. When we asked if there was more, the staff said no. I genuinely thought they were joking. It wasn’t fun, it wasn’t worth the price, and we were out of there in under 10 minutes (only stayed that long because we felt too awkward to just walk out). Really disappointing.

I paid $200 for a bunch of glass bottles (which I paid a premium for), a bunch of ALREADY broken up / shredded stuff, a single drawer from a dresser and a bunch of hard plastic / rubber objects like a plastic bin / rubber traffic cone (not ideal for smashing..). It literally took 7 minutes in total. I was expecting like a TV or printer? Not mostly unless stuff and a single drawer from a dresser.. The employees were also pretty uninterested to help. Overall felt like I got ripped off. I don’t understand how there are so many good reviews?
Overall, this is a very fun and cathartic activity to do with people! The staff were friendly and my group really enjoyed it! I will say, I have been to other smash-type rooms in other cities and they all had more options (small electronics and appliances) to break, which I had assumed would be the case here too. The bottles were great, and I understand I could have purchased more glass, but a better variety aside from already beaten cushions and sheets of metal would have made the 4 stars into a 5.
This place was EXCELLENT for stress relief. I took my 76yr old father here after my brother passed. The customer service was excellent as soon as we checked in. Please make sure you pay online because they can take cash on site( a customer came in and was denied because they only had cash). The rep guided my dad through his activities, his safety instructions and the package we ordered. He took his time and made sure my dad understood the rules and me as well. My dad went into the room and went at it. I ordered the hour but at 76 he was done in 10min but went another 20min to finish strong. My dad came out feeling relieved and smiling. He said he would have never tried it on his but was glad that I brought him there, because he felt so much better and alive. Smash City is awesome 💯. A must try!!!
